Black River Nature Tours

The LORAIN PORT AUTHORITY in partnership with the LORAIN COUNTY METROPARKS announces the Black River Tours for the 2011 season.

2012 tour schedule comiing soon.
You can also join a walk on boat tour during the International Festival held June 22-24 and Port Fest held on July 4. Festival tours are one hour long and cost $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for ages 6-12 and children age 5 and under are free accompanied by an paying adult with a maximum of 2 children per adult.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure an on-time departure. Passengers must be at least 30 lbs to come on board.

The Black River Landing Dock in Downtown Lorain
Schedule your Black River Nature tour group trip aboard one of two Lorain Port Authority Shuttle boats. Each boat holds up to 20 passengers for a total of 40 passengers per group.

River Tour Gift Certificates! Looking for a unique gift for a special person? The Port Authority has just the right thing. Send your family and friends on a 1 1/2 hr, boat tour on the Black River. While on the river, guests may see deer, beaver, adult and juvenile bald eagles, cormorans and the Great Blue Heron which has about 100 nests along the Black River by the Steel mill. This fun family activity is just the thing to get you thinking about summer. Tours will begin in July and continue through August. The cost is $12 per person and gift certificates can be purchased by visiting the Port Authority offices at 611 Broadway Ave in downtown Lorain. For additional information call (440) 204-2273

Sunset River Cruises

Join us Friday and Saturday evenings for a romantic cruise on the Black River. River boats depart from the Jackalope Restaurant guest dock in Lorain, Ohio. No reservations are necessary. Cost is $12.00 per person and it is a walk on tour.

Trips are held Fridays and Saturdays in July, August and September of 2012

Trip times will be announced in the spring of 2012.

Port Fest 2012

A beautiful sunny day at Port Fest

Celebrate Lorains waterfront with the annual Lorain Port Authority Port Fest. Live music, childrens activities, water related vendors, craft vendors and your favorite festival foods are the norm at Port Fest. Our River Tourswill be going on throughout the day. Take a boat ride on one of the Port Authority's two shuttle boats for a tour upriver to see the hidden natural areas of the river along with the steel mill. Great Blue Herons, bald eagles, cormorants are commonly seen along the river with occasional deer and beaver sightings.

A Taste of History

The Black River Historical Society will be hosting " A Taste of History" from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will include "Antiques, Arts and Crafts Show on the River" and "Ohio Wine on the Water" wine tasting. Admission is free for the "Antiques, Arts and Crafts Show on the River." A few vendor spaces are still available. New vendors are welcome. For more information please call 440-245-2563. There will be a British Car Show all day as well. Admission to the wine tasting is $10.00 and includes one souvenir wine glass and 5 tasting tickets.

The event is sponsored by the Lorain Port Authority and supported by the Lorain International Festival and Bazaar.
